Closed Loop Weekly 🍲 Soup season vibes
October 2nd, 2020
Hi fam,
Whelp it is October 2nd, leaves are changing color, Halloween is in the air and it is officially SOUP SEASON. Move over Libras. I know, I know, we’re still coming off high temps and fire fueled smokey days but I will not wait a moment longer for some brothy comfort. Fall is my favorite time to whip up too much red lentil and slurp under a cheetah print snuggie. (It’s just a blanket but a girl can dream right?)
These seasonal comforts are a wonderful way to connect with local produce and remind ourselves that our culinary rhythms are just as inspired by the turns of the year. Cyclical eating, dining in time with the seasons, connects us to our plate–every fruit and veg savored in its peak.
Enjoy those last summer tomatoes, fading berries, and sweet corn before we roll into the heartier produce of the cold months. But let’s be real, soup is always in season.
What do y’all have going on the stove??

Red Lentil SoupA fall favorite, and a great use-it-up recipe for those lone root veggies you have rolling around in the drawer. Dress it up or dress it down, either way it’ll keep you full through winter.

BirKim BagsWe’re reclaiming the plastic bag narrative y’all. In Kim’s words: “There is something great about the style and design on plastic bags, although their single use consumption is an issue, so I wanted to make something that would have pride of place in homes and create conversations.” @BirKimbags only, please. Those polyethylene suckers can take a hike.
