Hi kids,

I’m scheming on Halloween decorations and safe-from-a-distance trick-or-treating. Possibly my favorite pumpkin themed holiday, I love a cute but spooky motif.

Some of my low waste Halloween hacks include:

  • displaying your self rotting pumpkins on the porch

  • keeping spiderwebs up year round for easy assembly

  • replacing all working bulbs with eco-friendly flickering ones you thought you were done with

  • repurposing holey totes and pillowcases to create mini floating ghosts

  • collecting dog hair for a one of a kind werewolf costume

This list goes on. Who says Oct 31st can’t be low waste?

In other news I’m honored to be a featured panelist for the 2020 virtual BLD PNW event next Wednesday, October 14th. The largest B Corp-centric gathering in the Pacific Northwest. Snag a sliding scale ticket and come take part in conversation around building better business.

See y’all there!

(And share your hot Halloween hacks here.)

Farming a 'Carbon Smart' FutureMaia’s latest blog post for Replate—a rad SF based food rescue startup—is all about carbon smart farming. “Right now, agriculture is one of the largest global emitters of CO2, but by shifting towards ‘carbon smart’ methods of farming, agriculture can play a crucial role in reversing atmospheric greenhouse gas levels.” Want to find out how hazelnuts can help fight climate change? Read on.

Refarm'd - BetaHighkey obsessed with this mission driven plant-based milk subscription service. From their site - “We work with farmers to make the transition from cows' milk to the production of plant based drinks, and at the same time convert their farmland into animal sanctuaries.” HELL YEAH.

Know Your Vote! You’re all registered to vote, right? If not, please drop everything you’re doing and get that done right now! We are RALLYING to get a sane adult elected president on November 3, but did you know that your ballot might also include senate, house of rep., state, and municipal elections, as well as proposed legislation you can approve or deny? KnowYourVote is a great resource to find out what’s on the ballot in your state and learn about the issues so you can make informed decisions.
