Closed Loop Weekly 🍷 A new Passover mood
April 3rd, 2020
Hi fam,
Welcome to April, isolation style. Last year we were putting on a zero waste Passover seder with our nearest and dearest, breaking matzo together and eyeballing the kosher wine. This year I’ll still be taking part in the *traditional* four cups but can Elijah make an appearance over Zoom? How do we maintain tradition in a state of total isolation? Creating new rituals can help us make sense of this unprecedented space and allow us to appreciate what’s come before.
Passover is one of my favorite holidays, a time for good food and good mood. To create some new traditions this year I’ll be:
Trying out Passover adjacent recipes with the foods we have access to
Documenting and sharing my cooking process for y’all to join in at home
Lighting candles, whatever we have on hand (no one has to know about that pumpkin spice scented number)
Acknowledging the difficult histories of all marginalized folx and taking time to appreciate the sacrifice of all essential workers during these times
If you have an essential worker in your life, let them know their presence makes the difference.
If you’re interested in a virtual Passover celebration, follow me this week and let’s connect. New year, new traditions.
Appreciate you all.
