Closed Loop Weekly 👏 Favorite failed attempts

Hi fam,

My triumph of the last week – I made, as in from scratch, bagels. I don’t mean I tore the center out of a loaf of bread and smashed it back into a dough ball to fit into my mouth in one go and called the left behind crust skeleton a “bagel”, I mean real flipping sourdough bagels from the starter I’ve managed to keep alive. They were cute in their own way, overly puffed, butthole reminiscent with too much salt. But they were eaten and thoroughly enjoyed. I’m sharing this because I’d never expected my baking skills to progress beyond banana bread but here I am, x number of days into quarantine and still surprising myself.

I hope y’all are finding new avenues for creativity in the kitchen. We can forget about things ever having to be perfect at this point or giving a flip who’s going to see it on social. We can just be in the moment with our imperfect bagels and take a bite. Learn something new just for you, no one else has to be privy to your failed attempts or less than ideal outcomes. This is the time to just enjoy the process, get into the meditations of kneading, and be present. I hope you think so too.

And if any of y’all have favorite bagel toppings or tips you’d care to share, send ‘em my way! Much love to y’all.

5 minute hemp seed milkI love this DIY, package free hemp milk. Hemp seeds are packed with nutrients, easily adapt to whatever flavor combo you want to test out, and buying in bulk is relatively inexpensive. If you keep your seeds in an airtight container they’ll last a long while, keeping your smoothie fix alive. Or pancake cereal kick?
