Closed Loop Weekly 🍞 Food is political and we have the power
June 12th, 2020
Hi fam,
It’s Friday, I’m in your inbox again <3. Black Lives Still, and Always Will, Matter. The events of the last few weeks have only instilled the importance of putting in the work to dismantle and rebuild these broken systems. We are all responsible. We are all capable of making real change on a grand scale. Every one of us can affect the outcome of this revolution, it’s about finding where your talents best serve. Whether you march, protest, call your local representatives, sign petitions, donate funds, read the literature, share and circulate, have tough conversations with folx, it’s all relevant. Every small action adds up. Keep putting in the time to do the work–not just today, not just this week, figure out a sustainable way to take action for the long haul. Your voice makes a difference. This work is vital across all industries. Especially for CLC. Food is political, food is power, food is injustice. Access to healthy, plant-based eating should be a human right for every community. We must actively ban together to support equitable ingredients, wherever we live. Where we grocery shop, the products we purchase, the restaurants we frequent are all a vote with our dollars. Support companies that support change. We are in the midst of revolution, friends. And while you may feel removed from the action depending on your circumstances, everyday routines like grocery shopping are an act of resistance. Supporting your local farmers market or CSA share is a quiet protest against the norm. Engaging with and advocating for BIPOC farmers, growers, and distributors, is upending the status-quo. You have a choice to make change, what an incredible power. Our smallest acts of sustenance can nourish an entire movement. I can’t wait to see what we do.Stay hungry,Hawnuh Lee | Founder, Closed Loop Cooking

Food, Feelings, and Reframing with Sophia RoePulling out our much loved conversation with Sophia Roe to highlight the intersection of sustainability and social cause. This piece is CLC required reading. From Sophia - “You might feel like you can’t do anything about your privilege but you totally can. You can acknowledge it and support other people.”
