Closed Loop Weekly ⚡ What’s worth celebrating
July 3rd, 2020
Hi fam,
A small reminder that the act of self keeping is an act of resistance. Rest, recover, take the time you need for yourself so you may continue to press forward and make change. The resistance will take many forms–whatever shape that may be for you, be kind to yourself.
Rather than a festive fourth of July cheers, here’s a link to Equity at the Table, an incredibly diverse index of folx in the food industry you can check out and gather inspiration from. Let’s seek out different recipes, ideas, and narratives to celebrate while giving credit to their origins. It’s time for some new cultural appreciation.
To eschew tradition is a ritual in its own right. We give mindful acknowledgment to a shift in the cultural consciousness and make way for something better. May we give meaning to new practices. May we question every tradition to ensure it deserves space, time, and attention. May we find ways to create community at home and from afar. This year we define what’s worth celebrating.
Here’s to upending the social status quo. Light, love, and resilience.

Limey cabbage cilantro slawA summer favorite, this bright and beautiful slaw is perfect on its own or topping off some overfilled tacos. Use up that on the edge cilantro (stems included,) add an avocado and you’re in business!
