Hi fam,

I talk quite a bit here about small moments. Minor habit shifts that add up to major change. Keeping up with these daily acts builds consistency, a platform for a movement to take hold. Even with a global pandemic, we can still create resiliency.

I’d like to encourage y’all to try out one new habit, starting this week. Slight shifts you can build on.

Small moments for resiliency:

  • Make DIY dried beans from scratch

  • Repurpose an old t-shirt into rags, use these before paper towels

  • Try a local preserve

  • Read up on proper produce storage

  • Test out a use-it-up recipe with whatever ingredients you have on hand

  • Build up your improvisational cooking techniques! Cook a familiar ingredient in a new way

  • Implement a low waste morning ritual

  • Volunteer a few hours on a local farm

  • Swap packaged non-dairy milk for 5 minute hemp milk

  • If you’re ordering takeout, request no silverware or napkins

  • Find out what’s seasonal in your area

  • Freeze your leftover food scraps for scrap stock

  • Figure out what your options are for composting

  • Go in with a friend on bulk food purchases

  • Learn about the Future of Farming in our latest interview

These are just a few ideas to help y’all get started. Your small moments may look entirely different. I want to hear what you’re making space for, drop me a note!

Arctic DrillingIn an unprecedented move, the U.S. Department of the Interior formally opened up Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. This is criminal. Now, more than ever we need a democrat in office. We must preserve our last wildlife refuges. You can read the full article here.
