Hi fam,

The west coast is on fire. We’ve got go bags parked by the door to head out of SW Portland at a moment’s notice. I wish I had the right words to navigate this. It’s been a year of a week and all we can do is take it one second at a time. That’s all I have right now.

Grounding words from a friend - You are capable. You are resilient.

We shared Pandora Thomas’s interview earlier. Hers is the resounding truth we must all move forward with if we wish to find balance again. “I turn to the concept of Sankofa, meaning going back and fetching our stories in order to move forward. I had to really go into my histories and learn about the journey my people took and other peoples took, and look at how that plays into connecting us back to something that gives us purpose in life—the earth and all other beings.”

Deepest appreciation to the firefighters at the front.

Stay safe.
