🍽️ How not to feed yourself.

Self care satiety.

Hi friends,

Truth be told, I am not great at feeding myself. Proclaimed, eating miso soup at midnight. Not a badge of honor, more so, an uncomfortable realization of dualities–I am an excellent chef and I often am the last person I remember to feed. Many a pop-up event ends with peanut butter toast. Savoring instead, the success in selling out fried rice latkes with miso pulled mushrooms and quick pickle slaw. Tasted, adjusted, considered at every stage. But far from the satiety of a full meal. Instead, sustaining myself on quick bites to keep moving.

It’s finding self care in pre-prepped ingredients, doubled recipes for intentional leftovers, snacks made before a craving sets in. Reminders from a former me that I too deserve to eat well today. I’m appreciating earlier efforts in the form of homemade nutty granola, spicy hummus, and seaweed seedy crackers. Edible love notes in all my favorite flavors.

It’s easy to rely on the inconvenience of inconsistent eating. Harder, acting on the intention to feed yourself, well.

Share some inspiration this week and let me know what you’re whipping up ahead of time.

Stay hungry,

Here, now. A comic re-run

Taking a moment for reflective creation, I always come back to comics as my preferred medium. In the space of my culinary + artist practice, I'm finding it more important than ever to question daily processes.
