đ Joy in discomfort + vegan hamantaschen.
Get uncomfortable, find your people.

Hi friends,
Maybe youâve realized this recently, but the price of community is inconvenience.
Building a life of reciprocity, support, and longevity comes with a quota of discomfort. Your urge to keep score will be strongâa natural inclination derived from hyper individualism. But Iâm encouraging you to fight through, to get absolutely uncomfortable in your drive towards collective energy.
The price of driving change will be painful at momentsâwhat got us here, will not in fact, get us there. Like any good chef knows, you may cry when you cut onions (unless you have very sexy onion goggles) but once you get carmelizing, the end flavor justifies every salty tear. Or maybe I just have very sensitive eyes.
Easy, is settling into complacency of the world you know. Harder, is the conscious act of contributing when it will rightly screw up your daily routine. Share leftovers with your neighbors, foster a pet (please!), drive friends to the airport, borrow tools and booksâmake it aggravatingly annoying how often you show up. And lean into that discomfort.
The right people will recognize your effort and soon, that reciprocity will be second nature. Weâll live outside of ultra consumerism simply by sharing more. But to move in that direction, when youâre first cutting onions, you must remind yourself that the meal at the end of the day is so, so worth it.
So, how are you making yourself uncomfortable today?
Stay hungry,

Pop-Ups Please is not and has not been affiliated with Republica & Co hospitality group.
Lalo Camarena was mistakenly referred to as the chef at Mesa. It was the late and incredibly talented Lauro Romero who was the partner in Mesa prior to the app launching. The app is dedicated to his memory.
Taking this week off from features yâall, recovering from being sick!
